Poke Fun

A new restaurant in Murfreesboro I am very excited about is Poke Fun, located in the shopping center on the corner of Medical Center & Thompson Ln. Poke Fun features poke, which is a raw sashimi dish that I first learned about on my honeymoon to Hawaii. This is my 2nd visit and so far so good.

At Poke Fun, you are able to create your own bowl or choose a signature bowl. For this occasion, I chose the Volcano bowl. It features Ahi Tuna, salmon, avocado, cucumber, jalapeno, edamame, green onion, spicy mayo, sriracha, ginger, wasabi, tempura flakes, and masago.  You are also able to choose your base: brown rice, sushi rice, green mix (salad), nacho chips, or zucchini noodles. As I am trying to stay low-carb, I opted for the zucchini noodles.

My first impression of my bowl is that everything looks very fresh and colorful. They give you a healthy portion of salmon & tuna, and all the vegetables blend very well in the dish. The spicy mayo & sriracha add a great deal of spice to the dish, which I am definitely a fan. The bowl itself is a good portion, ringing in it at $11.95, so roughly a little over $13 with tax.

Overall impression: Poke Fun is a great addition to the dining scene in Murfreesboro. It offers delicious & healthy food in a quick manner. It is great place to stop on your lunch break or on your way home from work. Service is friendly, fast, & the restaurant is clean. The only drawback I have is for lunch I usually like to keep my tab under $10, especially for quick service restaurants. However, I am willing to splurge when it comes to high quality, which is what you get at Poke Fun.

Welcome!

Hello everyone! Welcome to my dream come true. If you know me at all, you know food is my passion. It has always been my dream to travel the world, blog about all the delicious foods I get to eat, and get paid to post about it. Well, I am definitely not getting paid yet, but this is a start!

In this blog I will be reviewing restaurants in Middle Tennessee, focusing on restaurants in Rutherford county while also visiting Franklin & Nashville at times as well. I will focus on local restaurants, and may even post a favorite recipe every now & then.  My partner-in-crime, Miss Angelique Slone will be posting her reviews as well, so you should notice twice the fun being had on this blog.

I hope is that this blog becomes a go-to for people traveling the area and also for locals who can’t decide where to eat dinner on a Friday night.

With that being said, feel free to reach out for restaurant suggestions! I hope you enjoy reading about all the great restaurants in our area.
